The Second Season Of The Witcher is Out on Netflix

Image
Yesterday I spent the majority of the day playing Destiny and watching the second season of The Witcher . There are 8 episodes to this new season, and each are really good. So far I think they are doing a great job with the show, but my biggest issue with it is the casting.  Outside of Henry Cavill, I don't really like any of the people they picked to play the main characters. I don't care for the person playing Yennefer. Don't get wrong, she's a talented actress and attractive, but she looks far too young to be Yennefer of Vengerberg. If you played the games, Yennefer seemed older, and when I say older I just mean someone in their 30s and this Yennefer looks like she's just finished college and looking for a job. I just don't fully buy into her character.  Dijkstra was a very large fellow, but capable on his feet. The guy they picked to play him looks like an old fogey trying to hang onto his last piece of relevance in an ever changing world. Obviously the guy

Finally Finished Watching FX's The Strain this Weekend and...

Image
The Strain first aired on FX back in 2014, and I started watching it but I never got pasted the first season because I had other things going on; mainly life, but I decided over the last few weeks I would finish it because it was an interesting show and I thought it was a different take on "vampires" that was a nice change of pace from the traditional bloodsuckers we all know and love to watch.  For anyone not aware of the show, this is the part where I tell you about the show and if you don't like spoilers, you should probably stop reading right now because I will disclose some things that could potentially ruin the show for those who don't appreciate spoilers as much as I do. I know it's weird, but I have to know.  Anyway, The Strain follows the life of Ephrem Goodweather, a doctor with the CDC. The show picks up as an international flight lands in New York and all the passengers are seemingly dead. Ephrem and his team are called into investigate the situation.

If I Were the Owner of the Brooklyn Nets I'd...

The new NBA season has been underway for more than a few weeks now, and as we all know, Kyrie Irving still hasn't played a single game since the season started due to the vaccine mandate in New York. The Nets decided to keep Kyrie sidelined until he can compete fully and not just during games that aren't at home.  The Nets seem to be playing okay at the moment, but a lot of people feel the Nets would be a complete team if Kyrie wasn't riding the pine which is understandable because he is a great player and anytime one of the great players on a team isn't playing people always question the performance of the team in their absence. Even if the team is playing well and winning games, people will always question the close games a team won or lost based on the presence of their star athletes.  With all that being said, word from the grapevine is the Kyrie will only play if he gets traded, and I can see why he'd want that. He's refusing to get vaccinated and there are

Opinion: How do we fix this "worker shortage"?

Image
I keep reading and hearing about this "worker shortage", and to be frank about it, it pisses me off. I understand that sounds strong, but the truth is that there isn't a worker shortage. There is not a shortage of workers; the painful truth is that this is as close to a general worker strike as we may ever see.  Before the pandemic even started, people were still having a hard time finding suitable employment, or were underemployed, and most people were handcuffed to jobs that left them wanting for whatever reason. When the pandemic hit, and people got laid off they had an opportunity to do other things.  Some people went back college, some people took the unemployment money and started their own business, and some were just enjoying making the most money they've ever made since they started working. Seriously, some people were making upwards of $2k per month and the most they were making before the pandemic working one full time job was $1500 a month.  Whatever the c

I Liked the First 2 Season of You on Netflix, but After Season 3 I'm Done With the Show

Image
You  season 3 dropped on Netflix about a week ago now. I finished it today, and I was highly disappointed with the show. I liked the first 2 seasons of the show, so I was really looking forward to seeing where this new season was going to take us, but by the time I finished the season, I knew I was done with the show.  Before I get too far into this, I'll explain a little about the show and do recap, for those who have seen the show, you can skip down past the recaps to see why I didn't like the 3 season. Be warned that from this point forward there will be spoilers.  Season 1 Recap You  is a controversial show on Netflix, and rightfully so. Joe Goldberg is You's  main character who happens to be a stalker and a murderer. In the first season Joe meets a woman named Beck that captures his attention. After meeting her just once he becomes obsessed and does everything he can to get to know her. He stalks her online presence, and follows her around.  While following her Joe r

What Happened On the Set of 'Rust'?

Image
Yesterday news broke that Alec Baldwin had killed Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza on the set of the new movie 'Rust' by firing a prop gun that may have had live ammunition rounds. This accident has renewed the debate on whether real firearms are used on the set of movies and tv, but what really happened? There hasn't been a lot of information regarding exactly what happened, and rightfully so, it is an open and ongoing investigation, but if we use a little common sense while scanning through the different articles, it would appear that they were working on a scene when the assistant director gave one of the prop guns to Baldwin. He let everyone know on the set that it was a "cold gun" which is jargon for an non-lethal weapon.  Now this is where the details aren't quite clear because one article I read said that they were shooting a scene and another article said they were rehearsing the scene. Personally, I believe they were shooting the scene

Netflix's The Guilty is Guilty of Being Boring and Predictable

Image
To say that I've been waiting for weeks to see this movie would be, well, the truth, but to illustrate my point I'll tell you a little story about just how badly I've been wanting to see this movie.  Aright, so I'm fairly certain that the first time I heard or saw anything about this movie was about 3 weeks ago. I think it was an article that I saw and maybe later that week I saw the preview for it. I thought it looked exactly like that movie with Halle Berry doing the exact same thing, so I figured Jake Gyllenhaal is involved so it might be alright, you know?  So the following week I think I read another article that actually talked about the movie, and I thought maybe it was already on Netflix, so I popped it on and sure enough it wasn't there. Between today, the day I actually watched the movie, and the first time I checked Netflix to see if it was there, I did that shit about 4 more times because I really kept thinking it was there and in my pure excitement woul

Ever Wonder Why Some Employers Don't Put Pay in Job Adverts?

Image
I was scrolling through my Google News feed when I came across this article about why some employers don't put the pay for the job in the advert. Now before I get too far into this, I want to talk about my experience and why anyone should listen to me about the subject.  Some of might know, but for those who don't, my prior career was working as a recruiter. I've worked with Conduent (formerly Xerox), PeopleReady Skilled Trades, Digital Intelligence Systems, and a few other place. My job was solely to work with clients and hiring managers to fulfill their hiring needs. I would create the job postings, review the applicants, conduct interviews, and make my recommendations to hiring managers.  Early on in my career, I learned how adding pay to a job ad can help it or hurt it. I was working on virtually the same job, but the clients were different. The job was working at a call center. One client was paying $14/hr. while the other was only paying $8/hr. Obviously, I had more c

Netflix's Kate is Marginally Better Than Other 24-hour to live Action Movies

Image
Netflix's female version of Cranked released today, and I've got to say that it's marginally better than the other 24-hour to live action movies.  For anyone who is unfamiliar with this particular movie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Kate, an assassin who contemplates her future as an assassin after a mission in Osaka takes a wrong turn.  Woody Harrelson play Varrick, or V, her handler. Varrick raised Kate to be a professional killer from a young age. After the mission in Osaka, Kate tells Varrick she wants to retire and have a normal life. Varrick essentially tells her that she'll tired of the boring life and be back in no time.  On what is supposed to be Kate's last mission, she manages to find herself poisoned. After the mission takes a turn for the worst, she wakes up to in the hospital with a terminal diagnosis and 24 hours to live, and thus begins her rampage to find justice.  I don't want to give too much away about the movie, but I will say that as fa

The Solstice Event in Destiny 2 Needs to be Changed

Image
Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes event started a few weeks ago, and I've been working on completing the armor for the Hunter and the Titan. Usually I look forward to the seasonal events, but I've never been overly fond of the Solstice event because I hate the European Aerial Zone.  When the European Aerial Zone, EAZ for short, was first introduced, it was a little exciting, but after the one play through it was boring and the only reason to keep playing it was to get the XP and/or complete the armor set requirements. After the first year I didn't really bother with it. If I just so happened to playing Destiny a lot around that time of year and I felt like wasting time doing the armor, I would.  This year I decided that I would complete the armor from start to finish, and for those who don't know what I mean, I'll explain it. Each hero class has it's own solstice armor set which includes a helm, gauntlets, chest plate, boots, and then either a Mark, Cloak, or B

Gunpowder Milkshake is mashup of the movies John Wick & Close, but it's not nearly as good as either

Image
Yesterday I had finished up streaming, and needing something to watch while I enjoyed some dinner. Well, I popped on Netflix and decided to give Gunpowder Milkshake a watch. Now, the only reason I had even heard of this movie is because someone wrote an article saying the movie was so much better than John Wick , and as much as I like Karen Gillan, there was no way that could be true.  First thing I did after reading that article was check out the trailer for the movie. This all didn't happen yesterday, I'm just giving you some background. Anyway, I watched the trailer and my first thought after watching it was that it was a complete rip of John Wick with the plot line from Close , or even Polar  with Mads Mikkelsen and Vanessa Hudgens.  For anyone who hasn't seen any of those three movies I mentioned, hers a brief synopsis. Someone kills John Wick's dog. John Wick also happens to be a retired hitman who was part a very big network of contract killers. Close  is about
